Will writing in Brighton

It may feel like a daunting task, but making a Will is the only way you can guarantee what happens to your assets after you pass away. Without a Will in place, you have no control over who inherits from you meaning your loved ones may face unnecessary stress, delays and legal fees trying to sort everything out.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I update my Will?2025-03-24T12:06:41+00:00

Changes in your circumstances can have a significant impact on, or even invalidate, your Will. It is important to keep your Will up to date, so it reflects new wishes and remains valid.

When should I update my Will?2025-03-24T12:06:31+00:00

You can change your Will at any time, assuming you have the capacity to do so. WSL recommends that you review your Will every five years or after any major life event such as;

  • birth
  • death
  • marriage or registered civil partnership
  • divorce, separation, or dissolution of a registered civil partnership
  • buying new property
What factors outside my control might warrant an update?2025-03-24T12:06:56+00:00

Many factors outside of your control may give reason to update your Will, for example;

  • the rapid growth of house prices over recent years
  • unstable marriage or partnership
  • grandchildren added as named beneficiaries
  • changing the age at which children/grandchildren inherit the estate, because they are deemed unable to cope at 18
  • changing appointed guardians
  • need to assure housing for an adult child who has not left home or has unexpectedly returned
  • about to go on holiday, especially long haul and/or imminent surgery/illness.
  • Protecting vulnerable beneficiaries by adding a Will Trust
What’s the difference between using WSL and a solicitor?2025-08-11T12:33:04+00:00

Solicitors offer professional advice, however not many solicitors specialise in this area of law. They often use confusing legal jargon and usually only operate within typical business hours which means you might need to take time off work.

WSL are specialists. Our convenient home visit or video appointments are available morning and evening, including weekends, and our experienced consultants explain everything in plain English. We offer fixed fees that are quoted upfront.

What if I don’t want a home visit?2025-04-03T14:49:26+00:00

We understand a home visit may not be suitable for everyone. Therefore we also offer video call appointments so you can get the benefit of speaking to one of our specialists face to face without them coming to your home.

How much does it cost to change your Will?2025-03-24T12:03:35+00:00
WSL offers free Will updates to all our Lifetime Service members. If you are not a WSL Lifetime Service member, or have previously written a Will with another company, then the cost to update your Will is the same as making a new Will.

Do the right thing, make a Will.
